Shimano Deore XT M770 Front Derailleur The latest Deore XT derailleurs from Shimano highlight many years of refinement and evolution of the HyperGlide shifting technology, with a sleek aesthetic and smooth shifting performance. The XT line from Shimano manages to pack in much of the same technology and performance as XTR but with the everyday durability that trail riders seek. Designed to work with 3x9 drivetrains, the XT front derailleur provides solid shifting that comes in a variety of options to suit any frame on the market; High Mount, Low Mount, Direct Mount and E-Type.
The new Deore XT front derailleur is stronger and lighter than the old model it replaces. It features a reshaped cage for better tire clearance and faster shifting. And, for the weight weenies, it has dropped 28g of mass, meaning not only will the shift be a bit easier, but the bike should go uphill a bit better too. Like the new SLX, the XT front derailleur uses angled adjustment screws for easy-access tuning and a shorter derailleur cage to improve tyre and swingarm clearance. And should you change your groupset over to a new frame, the XT front derailleurs are also dual pull, meaning they will work with frames that route the front derailleur cable under the bottom bracket or down the seat tube. Although the M770 is designed to work with triple cranksets, it is also useful for 2x9 setups for those wanting to minimise front shifting. If you're not using your big 44t chainring, you can swap it with a bashguard and simply wind in the "H" limit screw so the derailleur only shifts into the bottom two chainrings. You don't even have to move the derailleurs position - it's as easy as that!
