Shimano SLX M662 9 Speed Rear Derailleur
Brought into the Shimano component line as a replacement for the old LX, the redesigned SLX groupset brought with it sturdy construction, durability and clever design to make it suitable for hard riding. With design cues from the XT and XTR lineup, the SLX rear derailleur packs it all into a much more affordable package that will appeal to the aggressive rider who doesn't want a $300 Rolex hanging on the back of their mountain bike. Taking what they have learnt from the Saint and Hone series, Shimano have created the SLX range to combine strength and trail-friendly weight for the ultimate MTB groupset.
Featuring a completely new design, the SLX utilises Shimano's "Shadow" technology that gives the derailleur a low-profile design by bringing the mechanism closer to the bike and away from pesky rocks and trees. And with it's direct cable routing and Shadow technology, the SLX represents incredible value. The M662 provides crisp and accurate shifting, while a stronger guide spring helps to eliminate chainstay contact while riding. Using an alloy and steel construction leads to lower weight without compromising strength and durability, while two fluorine-coated link pin bushings aid slick shifting on the trails. A perfect match for the sleek SLX shifters, or any other Shimano 9 speed shifter for that matter, the SLX rear derailleur will provide smooth, crisp shifting for many rides to come.
