The SLX shifters from Shimano take on board many of the features that have made Shimano Rapidfire shifters so popular amongst mountain bikers due to their functionality and lont term durability. Sharing the same internals as the more expensive Deore XT shifters, the SLX utilise Shimano's "2-Way Release" mechanism that allows riders to pull the release trigger with their index finger, or push it with their thumb. This allows you to operate the shifter exactly how you need to, allowing you to concentrate on the trail.

Continuing the ergonomic theme, the shifters can be mounted inboard or outboard of the brake levers so you can have them in perfect reach for your hands and the gear indicator can also be removed, should you wish to de-clutter the handlebars.
