Shimano SLX RT67 Centerlock Disc Brake Rotor Designed in conjunction with the brand new 2012 Shimano SLX disc brakes, the brand new RT67 rotors build upon the original models with a couple of tweaks to improve braking performance. While not an item many riders think of as an upgrade, ensuring that you have the correct rotor for your brakes can mean the difference between inconsistent braking power and irregular pad wear, and having a brake setup that is reliable, smooth and dependable all the time.
Like the previous SLX rotors, the RT67 gets an alloy central spider that bolts onto the wheel hub. This alloy spider not only reduces weight over 1-piece rotors, it also provides a stiffer platform for the steel brake track so that the whole rotor is straighter and stays true for longer. If you've ever had to deal with other brands rotors that seem to bend with the lightest pressure causing unwanted warping, the 2-piece SLX rotor will be a welcome upgrade. Compared to the previous RT64 version, the depth of the rotor has increased to match up with the new brake pads used on the latest XTR, XT and SLX hydraulic disc brakes. By simply increasing the surface area contact between the rotor and the pad, Shimano have been able to increase stopping power, which combined with the Oversized Ceramic pistons used in the new callipers, adds up to a 20% boost in power over previous brakes. While many folks are happy with mixing and matching rotors/pads/brakes, we would always recommend matching up the correct brand of rotor with the same calliper to ensure optimal braking force and consistent performance. If you're the type of rider that doesn't want to have to think about their brakes on the trail or just want to remove any doubt you may have in your equipment, the Shimano SLX brakes and rotors feature the reliability you have come to expect from the Japanese brand.
