Maxxis Minion DH Tyre 2.35" Super Tacky 42a
If you're looking for the go-to standard tire for DH riding and racing, this is it. Chosen by riders the World over in various sizes, rubber compounds and casing types, the Minion is a dependable, fast and predictably grippy downhill tyre that is designed to perform when you're riding over the limit. Over the seasons, Maxxis Tires have been developing quality rubber in a huge range of tread patterns to suit riders all around the globe in all sorts of conditions. In this time the Minion DHF has slowly become one of the most popular tyres amongst freeriders and downhillers, which is no mean feat. The Maxxis Minion tyre uses an aggressive cornering tread that provides tons of grip when you've bitten off a little too much, while the quality rubber provides a soft rebounding characteristic that stops you from bouncing off the trail. Dry, wet, loose or hardpack - the Minion is sticky in all trail conditions and along with the High Roller, should be at the top of your list when considering fresh rubber for your 5"+ duallie.

2.35" Super Tacky
While riders with big DH rigs will still prefer the wider 2.5" model, the faster and lighter 2.35“ size makes the Minion a better option on smoother coursers for DH riders wanting to drop rotational weight, or for trail riders wanting maximum traction. Unlike Maxxis XC tyres, the Minion uses a Super Tacky 42a Durometer rubber for a low-rebound characteristic that allows the tyre to conform to the terrain better. This rubber isn't quite as soft as the full 40a "Slow Reezay" compound, but it provides way more longevity and tread life, while still being a nice and sticky. Like all the Minion DH tyres, the 2.35" model gets the heavy duty 2-ply casing that is much thicker and stronger than the single-ply versions, which aids in pinch-flat resistance and tyre stability when running low pressures. Depending on your trail conditions, the 2.35" Minion can make a fast accelerating option for the rear tyre if you don't need the full 2.5" size, or it otherwise makes an excellent combo when matched with a High Roller out back. When pushing your bike to the absolute limit of suspension and traction, you have to be able to depend on your tyres to keep you on the trail and out of trouble, and the Minion tyre is all about keeping you rubber-side down.

From Maxxis:

"The Minion DHF was designed for the often loose and muddy conditions of aggressive all-mountain terrain.  The DHF incorporates ramped knobs for low rolling resistance and channel-cut knobs to increase gripping edges, giving straight-line control and precise cornering".
