2012 Trek Lexa SL Road Bike
The Trek Lexa SL was designed to address the need for a comfortable womens specific road bike with solid componentry at a decent price. Rather than having to squeeze onto a unisex model, female riders who display the traditional female proportions of a shorter torso and longer leg length will find the Lexa to be a much more comfortable option. So what exactly is the difference? Well there are a few key differences between the Lexa and the unisex Trek 1.5, with changes to both the frame and components. The frame itself features what Trek refers to as a "H3" fit, which uses a taller head tube to achieve a higher handlebar position, and a slightly shorter top tube to bring the handlebar closer to the rider. This is designed to provide a more comfortable and upright position so that riders are not over-stretching to reach the handlebar. The last thing that you want when riding along in a road pack at 35km/h is to feel nervous or unstable on the bike, and the H3 fit on the WSD models goes a long way to making sure you feel confident and comfortable.

Not forgetting the rest of the bike, Trek setup the Lexa SL's cockpit to suit female riders, with a narrower handlebar, shorter stem and womens specific Evoke saddle. Even the handlebar tape is gel padded, so you can be sure that sore palms and an achey bum are things of the past on the Lexa. Compared to the entry level model, the SL gets an upgrade to a full Shimano Tiagra 10 speed drivetrain for slicker shifting and improved long term reliability, and the wide-range gear set provides you with plenty of gears for climbing steep hill then blasting back down on the descents. 
Sure the Lexa SL may not have the carbon bling like the more expensive models, but for a reliable road bike that you can ride comfortably on for hours without worry, it's hard to go past the Lexa at this price.
