2012 Camelbak H.A.W.G NV 3.0L Hydration Pack
Standing for "Holds A-lot-of Water and Gear", this 16L backpack from Camelback is one of the most popular in the range due to it's gear-gobbling size, sturdy construction and generous 3 litre Antidote bladder. The first brand to pioneer hands-free hydration, the Camelbak bladder revolutionised mountain biking, allowing riders to take the tubes, pumps, tools and water bottle off their bikes and stow it in a comfortable and durable backpack. With class-leading hydration technologies and field-tested pack designs, there is no other brand with a reputation anywhere near Cammelbak, and with a range of different styles and sizes available, there is a hydration solution for every rider out there.

A full-featured hydration pack, the Camelbak HAWG is the biggest capacity option in their mountain bike range, with a total of 16 litres of storage space providing plenty of room for stowing all sorts of gear for multi-day rides and varying weather conditions. While the HAWG does have plenty of room, it also features external compression straps for cinching any loose panels down if you only have the pack half-full (or is it half-empty?), which minimises any bouncing around that can occur on rough trails. Like the Camelbak Mule, you get a helmet carrier that opens out via 2x zippers, as well as a small top pocket with a soft felt liner to protect your sunglasses or phone from getting scratched, and a concealed rain cover that wraps around the entire pack to keep your phone, MP3 player and any other valuables dry. There are 2 additional zippered compartments on each side of the pack, allowing you to fit in more gear while keeping the centre of gravity as close to your back as possible. Being the NV model, this particular HAWG comes with the N.V.I.S back panel that uses a channelling system for increased airflow to reduce heat and sweat build up on your back - ideal for hot Aussie conditions. Stronger shoulder straps provide more padding to keep the pack comfortable even when you load it up with all your gear, and the wider waist strap gives you better support around the hips to take more of the weight off your shoulders. Adjustable sternum and waist buckles and adjustable shoulder straps allow you to fine tune the fit of the backpack to get it in the most comfortable position for your riding style.
The big HAWG is constructed from a super strong 70 Denier Nylon that gives it awesome abrasion resistance that will stand up to crashing and the general abuse dished out from mountain bikers, while double-row stitching ensures long term durability even when you're constantly cramming more gear into it. While there are certainly lighter bags out there, few options on the market can match the HAWG pack for its comfort, durability and functionality - this is a well thought out MTB pack made by riders.

Camelbak Hydration Bladder
A key reason why Camelbak packs stand out from the rest, the latest hydration bladder is incredibly durable for it's weight, uses a taste-free lining and is even leak proof too. In fact, Cammelback have so much confidence in their Antidote reservoir that they give them a lifetime warranty. The lining of the bladder is treated with HydroGuard™ in order to inhibit the growth of bacteria, keeping the water you drink safe and taste-free. With a huge opening on the Antidote reservoir, it is easy to get inside to clean out the reservoir, which is made even easier with the Camelbak cleaning kit. And when you're done filling up the bladder, the 1/4 turn Quick-snap cap makes everything safe, secure and leak proof. Compared to previous models that required many more turns to close off the filler cap, the latest Antidote model is almost impossible to over-tighten and is much more user-friendly. The quality doesn't stop there though, as the Camelbak Big Bite Valve provides easy hands-free drinking, with a small shut off valve for drip-free riding. One of the big improvements with the latest reservoir is it's quick release detachable drinking tube that can be removed from the bladder with a simple lever, allowing for separate cleaning as necessary.
