Bontrager Race Lite Mountain Bike Shoe
The Bontrager RL shoe seems to be where it's at for most mountain bikers. The RL model is priced well for the given technology and weight and falls into a price bracket that riders seem happy with, both recreational and serious racer. Using a Composite sole to boost stiffness over the Race model, the RL maintains a light weight whilst being suitable for long rides where flexier shoes can make your feet suffer. LIke the entire MTB range, the RL is compatible with any mountain bike clip pedal system, with plenty of cleat adjustment for setting up the pedal position for your biodynamics. Compared to the road version, the RL gets more reinforcement around the base of the upper as well as inbuilt low-profile armour for when you decide to do some gardening on the trail. Although new to the shoe game the guys at Bontrager racked up two years of education and research before they felt comfortable to start with prototypes and testing. This dedication to getting it right shows itself in the way the shoes fit, feel and perform, and of course by the number or riders that have jumped into a pair of Bontrager shoes over the last couple of years.
