With the Mach 5.7 coming into its 2nd season, Pivot have celebrated its 1st Birthday by gifting it the gorgeous Fox Kashima RP23 rear shock, and a tidy 142x12mm thru-axle for the rear dropouts. Although Pivot have developed a reputation for making stupidly stiff and laterally rigid dual suspension mountain bikes, the 12mm Thru-Axle serves to dish up even more strength to keep both wheels tracking on the same line no matter how rough the terrain is. Combined with the hydroformed top tube and stout Tapered head tube, the Mach 5.7 provides its pilot with laser accurate handling that refuses to be bounced or twisted off line.
From
Pivot Cycles:
"We combined Pivot Cycle’s superior engineering with dw-link® suspension to design the ultimate trail bike and the result is the Mach 5.7. The 5.7 strikes an unrivaled balance of superior pedaling efficiency, fully active travel, incredible chassis stiffness and award winning handling. In fact, the Mach 5.7 won Bicycling Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Award for Best 26” Trail Bike. Now updated with a 142x12mm through axle system and post mount disc brake tabs to provide an increased level of stiffness and control, the Mach 5.7 is sure to continue winning acclaim and make even more riders smile. It is the ultimate do-all bike for riding just about any trail, anywhere. Whether you are an endurance racer, Super D rider or just looking for the perfect bike for anything you like to ride, chances are good that the Mach 5.7 is the perfect mountain bike for you.
DW Link
The dw-link suspension design allows us to achieve the ultimate ride. The perfect balance of traction, acceleration, square edge bump performance, superior braking, and the ability to handle big hits with ease is what Pivot bikes are known for. The dw-link's patented position sensitive anti-squat eliminates pedal bob during hard pedaling efforts out of the saddle and gives the bike additional traction while climbing (seated or standing) as well as really helping propel the bike forward during sprinting and hard efforts out of corners. The design starts out with a slightly rearward travel path for better square edge bump performance and then goes to a more vertical path, remaining active throughout the travel. The dw-link truly allows us the tunability to give the rider the best pedaling performance possible without sacrificing braking or suspension feel. Simply put, the dw-link is the next level of suspension design".
