Look Keo Classic Road Clipless Pedal
While it may not have the bling of the carbon models, the Keo Classic pedals from Look provide a quality option for riders wanting a high quality clip in road pedals that provides maximum power transfer. French brand Look Bicycles have been producing high end carbon road bikes and components for many years now, in fact, they actually invented the automatic pedal back in 1985 and have built quite a reputation for their well-designed and high quality clipless pedals. The Keo
Re-designed from their original clipless pedal platform, the Keo brings a new form that both drops weight, boosts available platform and increases overall chassis stiffness. While you can draw parallels between the old Delta pedals and the new Keo style, there has been much refinement and sculpting of the body to whittle down weight, while new materials and bearing design have helped improve durability. The core goal behind the new pedal system was pretty simple: Minimise the weight & volume of the pedal body, while remaining compatible with all standard road shoes on the market. The function is still the same; clip in by hooking the front of the cleat into the front loop of the pedal, push your weight down on your shoe to clip into the mechanism. And getting out also remains as a simple twist of the heel away from the bike. With the Keo system, there are 3 different cleats available for you to customise the amount of angular float you have between your feet and the pedals: Black (0 float), Grey (4.5 degrees float) and Red (9 degrees float).

Classic of the range
Designed as the keystone of the Keo lineup, the Classic pedal is far from being entry-level with its triple bearing internals, high-spec Cro-Moly axle and polyamide composite pedal body. Look pedals have a reputation for being bulletproof and as with all Keo pedals, the Classic goes through the same rigorous in-house testing to surpass the EN1478l standard. Running on 2 x roller bearings and a needle roller bearing, the Keo spins freely on its axle to reduce friction and drag you can get with lesser pedals, though the dual seal design keeps out contaminants when riding in poor weather. Coming in at just 139 grams per pedal, the Classic is quite impressive weight-wise and especially so when you consider the price. Because of this composite body, the Keo pedals are not likely to outlast an alloy-bodied unit such as the Shimano Ultegra pedal, but the trade-off will be worth it to some folk due to the decreased weight on offer from the Keo. You get adjustable spring tension for the clip mechanism, so you can fine-tune the feel of pedal entry/release and like all Keo pedals, you can purchase different cleats aftermarket for other angular float options.
