Santa Cruz Blur LT Carbon
Standing for "Long Travel", the Santa Cruz Blur LT is an extension of the original Blur platform, bumping up travel front and rear, bulking up the frame and tweaking the geometry for improved high speed handling and better suitability for all-round use. The Blur LT Carbon is Santa Cruz Bicycles next step in the evolution of the ever-popular Blur, and brings the incredible ride quality, strength and low weight of their carbon technology to a 140mm travel platform for the All Mountain rider. With geometry based around running a 140-160mm travel fork up front, the Blur LTc maintains the efficient pedaling characteristic of the original VPP suspension design, albeit with improved small bump sensitivity, a more linear mid-stroke and additional end stroke progression to avoid harsh bottom out when landing bigger jumps. Nestled between the Blur TR and the Nomad Carbon in the Santa Cruz Bike range, the best way to think of the Blur LTc is as a long-legged trail bike, with a playful nature that will constantly leave you with a silly big grin on your face. Sure, the Blur XC or TR would be the better option for flat out endurance racing, and the Nomad is a better tool if you want a shuttle-capable All Mountain beast, but if your XC trails consist of technical terrain that has lots of log rollovers, jumps, climbs, hairy descents and winding singletrack that keeps you out for hours on end, the Blur LT Carbon will take you everywhere and more.

 From Santa Cruz:

“Take our beloved Blur LT. Now, make the frame a pound lighter, several orders of magnitude stronger and stiffer, make it out of carbon fiber. Make the whole frame out of the stuff, and use a proprietary one piece molding process that ensures maximum strength and minimal weight. The result? The strongest bike we have ever built, bar none. It's a nimble, fast climbing, flex-free, confidence inspiring, trail bombing demon of a bike. Build it up however you want - there are no weight restrictions or fork travel limits to worry about - then ride it hard as you dare.”

Virtual Pivot Point
The patented VPP suspension by Santa Cruz is characterized by 2 counter-rotating mini links that separate the front triangle from the solid rear swingarm. By creating a "virtual pivot point" for the rear suspension, instead of the fixed main pivot like on a Superlight or Heckler, the Santa Cruz engineers are able to reduce the effect that chain torque (pedaling forces) has on the rear suspension, effectively reducing the pedal "bob" that you would normally get on a dually. In fact, we would encourage you to get out of the saddle and hammer the pedals on a VPP bike to see just how efficient the suspension really is. By reducing the negative effects your pedaling has on the suspension, you are able to climb faster, sprint harder and get more power to the rear wheel in a much wider variety of trail situations - all with less effort. The other cool feature to the VPP suspension is the path that the rear axle takes as it compresses through the travel, allowing for a balance between pedal efficiency and the ability to absorb those square-edge hits on rocks and roots. It all adds up to suspension that does its thing without you having to worry about flicking levers or adjusting your riding style, whether you're on a buff switchback climb or descending a fast-paced rock garden. Santa Cruz have also gone out of their way to ensure that your VPP bike is easy to maintain, with clever grease ports for the lower links bearings and durable hardware that uses basic hex keys to strip down the suspension, all without having to remove the cranks or BB cups. Combined with the stout links and oversized aluminum pivot axles, the VPP design gives you quality suspension in a laterally stiff frame that is easy to maintain and will last you for years to come.
