Santa Cruz Blur LT The XC build for the Blur LT comprises of a lightweight wheelset and parts spec designed for long days in the saddle. Starting at the Deore level "D XC" build and going all the way up to the blingy XTR spec, there is a build option to suit any rider wanting to get onto the versatile Blur LT frame. You also get to choose your own fork and rear shock option, with the higher end builds getting the QR15 thru-axle option up front. Without doubt Santa Cruz Bicycles most popular bike, the Blur LT is an incredibly versatile machine that combines the efficient VPP suspension in a 140mm travel package that delivers confidence and comfort over shorter-travel options. A couple of seasons ago, those clever folks in California made the decision to re-vamp the Santa Cruz Bike range by splitting the Blur into 2 distinct platforms for 2 very different types of rider; the 105mm travel Blur XC and the 140mm travel Blur LT. With a beefier frame, slacker geometry and a bump up to 5.5" travel, the Blur LT has been created to address the need for a plush, yet efficient trail bike that is capable of anything between casual endurance racing and riding super technical XC trails. A distinctly fun bike to ride, the Blur LT has that classic Santa Cruz feeling of having sorted geometry and effective suspension that allows you to get the most out of any trail situation. On the latest 2012 model, the Blur LT gets a slacker head angle at around 68 degrees with a Tapered headtube that fits either standard 1 1/8" steerer tubes or the new breed of Tapered forks, in order to boost frame strength and stiffness up front. The new generation VPP2 suspension has been tweaked to provide a more linear feeling through the range of travel, while keeping that awesome snappy pedal response that the VPP system is so revered for. You can fit a 140mm fork on the LT, which will give you a nice trail bike feel that will keep the bike balanced for twisty singletrack and climbing, or you can fit up to a 160mm fork such as the Fox 36 or RockShox Lyrik, that will increase the bikes stability on really technical terrain and give the Blur LT a more sure-footed feel for descending. Sure, if you're after a nimble XC weapon for racing and endurance riding, then the Blur XC or TR will be the better pick, or if your riding consists of really steep terrain and shuttle-assisted riding then the Nomad should suit you to a tee. For everything else in between, you would be hard-pressed to get a better and more versatile bike than the Blur LT. From Santa Cruz: “The Blur LT rules. Seriously. It has a super-durable and comfortably light aluminum frame with 140mm of VPP suspension travel, featuring grease ports in the lower link, carbon fiber upper link, and big 15mm alloy pivot axles running on adjustable angular contact bearings. Straddling the line between XC performance and all-mountain abuse, the LT is a leggy trailbike that climbs sweetly, throws nicely into turns, and flat hauls ass downhill. If you could only have one bike, this would be a hard choice to beat.” The Santa Cruz Blur LT features:
