Exposure Toro Light
A real workhorse in the Exposure range, you can think of the Toro as a slimmer version of the Maxx-D or a longer running version of the Diablo, as it sits in between both at 900 Lumens of power and with a 3-24 hour burn time. Designed and manufactured in England, Exposure lights have been engineered by a bunch of egg-heads who began the company due to their love of off road night riding. With a desire to create better rechargeable bike lights than what was available on the market at the time, the designers set out to create a specific range of mountain bike lights that were tough, compact, cable free and bearing in mind the terrible UK weather; sealed against the elements. Looking up close, you'll be able to tell that each unit has been lovingly CNC machined, with a tough alloy casing that allows for fine tolerances and perfect alignment of all parts to ensure everything seals up tight. As LED technology has sky-rocketed ahead of the old halogen and HID bulbs, Exposure have been able to capitlise on their compact designs due to the efficient nature of LED's, with less room having to be taken up by big heavy batteries. Not only are LED lights efficient, they are also becoming more powerful as new globes hit the market, such as the Cree XPG units used on the 2012 Exposure bike lights range. Unlike a lot of the cheap Chinese lights on the market, the Exposure lights actually have their output verified, so you're getting all the light you paid for, in a high quality package that's designed to last a lot longer too.

A Diablo for your handlebar
As Exposure states, the Toro MK.2 is the real all-rounder in the Exposure lights range. With 900 Lumens of power, it is massively bright for riding off road and quite frankly, is going to embarrass all of your mates with their old-school Halogen and HID lights that will look like fairy lights in comparison. The Medium setting at 600 Lumens is equivalent to a lot of competitors top-of-the-range options, which is an ideal amount of power for most off road riding, though you always have the high setting when you need that extra . With a smaller body in comparison to the Maxx-D, the Toro sits neatly on your handlebars with the supplied alloy clamp, and uses a cleverly designed quick release switch that allows you to remove the light from the bracket for charging. Speaking of charging, the Toro comes with both an AC and a USB charger, allowing you to plug it into your computer while you're at work, or tap into the wall socket. Like a mobile phone, you can't over-charge the Toro, though the light will emit a reminder flash to let you know it's topped up and ready to go.

The "One Light" to have
The real beauty about the Toro light is it's versatility. Sure, it's a blindingly bright off road singletrack weapon at 900 Lumens of power, but if your riding consists of more winter commuting, road riding, bike path cruising or even fire road training, the Toro becomes a fantastic option due to it's incredible battery life when used on the lower power settings. You can still ride singletrack at the Medium setting with its 600 Lumens of power, and in this mode you'll get 10 hours of burn time. For commuting and road riding, use the Low setting (300 Lumens) for a much brighter and safer option than the piddly little commuter lights that most cyclists normally use. The benefit here is that you get a massive 24 hour burn time, and with the rechargeable battery, you'll quickly find the Toro becoming the cheaper long term option as your buddies continue to shred through disposable batteries each week.

From Exposure Lights:

"The Great All-rounder. Powerfull enough for off-road adventure yet small enough to grace your road bike bars too. Almost as many Lumens as last year's MaXx-D but smaller and cheaper. Three Cree XPG combine to produce 900 lumens of light. Protected from the elements in a sealed unit without cables and extra batteries in our Cable Free Design. Choose your setting for either 3 hours / 10 hours / 24 hours / Flash. Smart Port Technology means that you can run a range of accessories from your light, choose from Piggyback batteries to let you ride for longer, or a Remote Switch so that you can change mode even more easily".
