Exposure Flash & Flare Light
If you're sick of the cheap and disposable commuter lights at your local bike shop, the Exposure Flash Light and Flare Light are designed as a high quality rechargeable bike light option for riders after a high-powered, compact LED light for illuminating bike paths and providing visability in traffic. Designed and manufactured in England, Exposure lights have been engineered by a bunch of egg-heads who began the company due to their love of off road night riding. With a desire to create better rechargeable bike lights than what was available on the market at the time, the designers set out to create a specific range of mountain bike lights that were tough, compact, cable free and bearing in mind the terrible UK weather; sealed against the elements. Looking up close, you'll be able to tell that each unit has been lovingly CNC machined, with a tough alloy casing that allows for fine tolerances and perfect alignment of all parts to ensure everything seals up tight. As LED technology has sky-rocketed ahead of the old halogen and HID bulbs, Exposure have been able to capitlise on their compact designs due to the efficient nature of LED's, with less room having to be taken up by big heavy batteries. Not only are LED lights efficient, they are also becoming more powerful as new globes hit the market, such as the Cree XPG units used on the 2012 Exposure bike lights range. Unlike a lot of the cheap Chinese lights on the market, the Exposure lights actually have their output verified, so you're getting all the light you paid for, in a high quality package that's designed to last a lot longer too.
Exposure quality comes to the city streets
The Exposure Flash/Flare Combo Lights are a high-end Commuter/Road lighting option that gives you both front and rear lights, rechargeable batteries, brackets and a Smart Charger, all in a neat little storage case. The Flash light is a 110 Lumen front light that punches out enough power to light your way on dark bike paths and dingy back roads. It features both a constant and flashing mode, with the flash setting being ideal for busy inner-city streets when you need to make yourself as visible as possible. To give you an idea, most $40 front commuter lights on the market have about 5-10 Lumens of power, making the Flash front light substantially more powerful. In fact, the 110 Lumen output is starting to border on a lot of competitors mountain bike light options. The Flare light is a 75 Lumen red LED rear light that punches out a serious amount of power, with the same constant and flashing modes as the front light. Both lights use a CNC machined alloy casing that is tough and sealed against the elements. A simple bracket for both lights allows you to mount the Flash onto your handlebar and the Flare onto your seatpost, with a stretchy rubber band to fasten them on.
The one to rule all Commuter lights
The big advantage that the Flash/Flare lights have over other commuter lights, aside from being brighter, is their rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries. With a supplied Smart Charger that plugs into an AC socket, you can charge the batteries from full depletion to full charge in just 2.5 hours. Since they're Li-Ion though (just like your mobile phone) you can chage them whether they're half full or completely empty, allowing you to top them up at work during the day, before you head home for the evening commute. As any commuter that rides on bike paths or on the road over Winter will know, having a bright light setup that increases your visability is very important. They will also know that cheap commuter lights with disposable batteries end up being very expensive when you factor just how many batteries they shred through. This makes the Flash / Flare light combo kit not only brighter than the competition, but better value too.
From Exposure Lights:
"Jack the Lad, the Flash packs a punch to get you noticed day and night. It's also bright enough to see your way home when you get caught out and small enough to hide in your pocket. It's fully sealed and easy to use, simply rotate the head to turn on and off. The Flash can be bought with the Spark Charger Pack to have a fully rechargeable system. The Flash can use either disposable or rechargeable batteries, the best performance will be from using Exposure Lights' own batteries. The Flash will produce 110 lumens output with our rechargeable RCR123A battery (included). The no compromise commute or get home light.
The talk of the town, the Flare is so bright yet so dinky they will be stopping you just to have a closer look. The power of a RedEye but in a cable free unit. Choose from disposable or rechargable battery options and an optional charger pack for those rechargeable batteries. Simple to use, simply rotate the head to turn on and off. 75 lumens"
