SRAM X9 Trigger Shifter Set 10 speed components for the masses! SRAM X9 is the best example of trickle-down technology without being watered down. Sharing the XX and X0 design, the latest trigger shifters provide snappy shifting and easy control of your 2x10 or 3x10 drivetrain. With each year seeing SRAM push the boundaries with their 10 speed groupsets, more and more riders are coming round to the benefits such as smoother shifting, improved drivetrain efficiency and reduced front shifting that come with a 2x10 setup. While perhaps not the blingiest part of the group, the wide-range 10 speed cassette is the heart of the new drivetrains and allow riders to get away with fewer chainrings up front thanks to the more available ratios out back. The other benefit of having an extra cog on the rear cluster is the tighter ratio that comes with it, so that each shift is smoother and less noticeable compared to cassettes that have bigger jumps between the number of teeth on each sprocket. Smoother operation, a more usable range and reduced front shifting all make 10 speed the perfect option for mountain biking. While the X9 trigger shifter still gets the unique Impulse technology and 1:1 cable pull that SRAM debuted all those years ago, the latest model features trickle down technology from the XX and X0 groupsets to make it sleeker and more responsive. Having joined the 10 speed revolution, the X9 shifter now features Exact Actuation technology that provides instantaneous engagement of the cable as soon as you press the shift lever - no lag, no dead throw. This means that shifts are fired off quicker with less hesitation and combined with the positive indexed feel that is synonymous with SRAM shifters and derailleurs, there will be no doubt as to when you've changed gear. While not quite on the same level as X0, the X9 unit still gets some adjustability, with the clamp featuring a 2-position system that allows you to fine-tune the paddle location relevant to your hand position. And if you're running Avid disc brakes you can pair up the X9 shifters with the MatchMaker kit to remove one more clamp off your handlebar - less weight and less clutter. From SRAM: "The SRAM X9 trigger shifter brings X0 features to a more affordable price level: Zero loss travel. Adjustable clamp. Matchmaker compatible. SRAM raises the bar in the performance MTB shifter market with the new X9: Lightweight, adjustable, tough."
