SRAM X.0 10 Speed Trigger Shifter
For 2012, the latest X0 groupset from SRAM continues to provide quality shifting for those that like it positive. Maintaining the distinctive punchy feel that made the original X0 shifters such a hit back in 2006 when they were introduced, the X0 trigger has seen refinement of its internals and an upgrade to 10 speed compatibility to further bolster its reputation. For riders looking at setting up a 1x10 drivetrain, this is the shifter for you. The right hand X0 shifter links up to a 10 speed SRAM rear derailleur for use on DH bikes, freeride bikes or modern XC bikes that are looking for a more simple approach to their drivetrain. Ditching the front derailleur, shifter and extra chainrings up front is an easy way to drop weight from the bike, and thanks to the modern 10 speed cassettes with their wide range 11-36t ratio, a 1x10 drivetrain often gives enough range for the majority of trails without need for extra gears. Sure, for super steep climbing or flat-out XC racing a double or triple crankset is still the best option, but for many riders out there, sometimes less is more.

As with all SRAM trigger shifters, the X0 model gets a number of unique features that make it an easy choice when choosing to upgrade your drivetrain. Having pioneered the Impulse shift technology that allows the rider to engage both shift levers with their thumb, SRAM also applied the Zero Loss Travel feature to the X0 shifters to provide instantaneous engagement of the cable with no lag when you press the trigger. "Exact Actuation" refers to the cable pull ratio used on SRAM drivetrains, whereby for every 1mm of cable pulled at the shifter, there is 1mm pulled from the rear derailleur. This 1:1 ratio is designed to make tuning gears easier, and it is also more resilient to contaminated gear cables so the shifting stays accurate even when the weather turns foul. The culmination of these technologies inside the Carbon/CNC alloy construction results in a lightweight package that punches out incredibly crisp shifting that is audible and positive for each gear change. Upgrades over the X9 series include the adjustable angle for the main shift lever so you can set up the paddle for smaller or bigger hands, while the whole shifter body can be adjusted laterally on top of regular handlebar positioning. If you own a set of Avid brakes you can use the MatchMaker clamp system to bolt both the brake lever and shifter body onto the same clamp, which results in less weight and a neater cockpit setup.
