Although the 2012 Madone 6.5 may share a similar build kit to the SRAM Force equipped Madone 5.5 on paper, there are some substantial differences that set the Pro-level 6 Series apart. While the 5 and 6 series Madone share a similar silhouette, the 6.5 is actually hand crafted in the US using higher grade 600 series OCLV Carbon Fiber, which creates a slightly stiffer and lighter frame that will be of higher value for competitive racers and serious road enthusiasts. What this means to the rider is that the 6.5 is more responsive, accelerates faster and descends with more authority, and you'll feel all of Trek's Tour-winning racing heritage packed into this bike. With over 20 years of carbon fiber manufacturing experience, there is no better choice than Trek for high end carbon road bikes, and in the 6.5 you'll see all of this experience along with some unique technology that sets it apart from the rest. The 6.5 utilises features such as the E2 head tube, BB90 bottom bracket, Step Join technology and a Seatmast assembly to provide a lighter and stiffer frame. OCLV 600 series carbon employs multi-directional layups with 1000's of precision cut sheets for each bike, and you'll find that Trek is the only brand Worldwide to cure their carbon frames in carbon moulds, so as to provide a more consistent finish than when using metal moulds. Each one of their US made frames is meticulously built over hundreds of man-hours to produce the finest and most technologically advanced carbon frames available.

With the 6 Series Madone, you also get your choice of H1 or H2 fit. aaaand what does that mean?? Well, the fit on a Trek road bike varies depending on the type of rider using it. H1 is the most racey and aggressive and H3 is the most relaxed and upright. The majority of the difference in the fit is found in the head tube area of the bike, with a H1 fit having a short head tube for allowing you to get as low down on the front of the bike as possible for quick handling and an aerodynamic position. However, unless you're a Pro, this fit can be too aggressive for most riders and will be uncomfortable for longer rides and is where the H2 fit comes into its own. Designed with a slightly taller head tube, the H2 Madone provides a more neutral position on the bike for a comfortable fit, without feeling like a cruiser. Whatever your flavour, you can choose the right fit for your riding style.
