2012 Trek Lush Womens Full Suspension Mountain Bike
This season sees the introduction of the Trek Lush: A womens specific mountain bike designed from the ground up using the full floater/ ABP suspension design. An evolution of the WSD Fuel EX, the brand new Lush uses some unique features to make this an ideal XC trail bike for female riders wanting balance and control in a confidence-inspiring package. One aspect of women's bikes that is often an issue is the stand-over height, which Trek have addressed by giving the Lush the lowest stand-overs in its class. This  is apparent in the curvy top tube of the frame that provides much more clearance than a straight tube would. However, providing this much stand-over was not as easy as simply bending the top tube, as Trek had to redesign the rear suspension with a smaller rear shock to get the clearance they required. Aside from being more compact, the smaller DRCV rear shock is optimal for smaller female riders due to the different air pressures required when compared to bigger male bodies. Considerable testing has also been done to make sure that the Lush's overall geometry and handling will feel comfortable for a wider spectrum of female riders. The intention was to deliver confidence and comfort, which in turns provides fun, because at the end of the day that's what mountain biking is all about.

The Lush kicks off the all new line up of WSD bikes for 2012 with a great package that keeps the budget happy whilst not skimping on performance. A particularly good feature included is the DRCV rear shock that due to it's ability to avoid the normal ramp up associated with air shocks will allow the full travel to be used.  We see this problem often with lighter females as they just don't get through their travel even when setup at the right pressure. It's pointless having a 120mm travel bike if you only use 50mm which is where the DRCV shock really shines. Everything about the Lush is designed to better perform for Women; from the bars and WSD saddle, to the lighter tuned suspension for lighter riders. Overall the Lush will just work better for you, giving you more comfort, more confidence, and more control.

WSD is Women's Specific Design

It’s Trek’s approach to making a great-fitting bike, right from the start. There’s no magic recipe that makes a bike better for a woman—just attention to every single detail and dedication to getting it right.

The right saddle. The right reach, bar height, and bar width. The right suspension setup for the average woman, not just the average rider. The right geometry for a better ride, the right suspension, and the right cockpit all add up to a bike that will make you more comfortable and confidant.

Full Floater

The Full Floater suspension design attaches the shock to two moving linkage points instead of the traditional one moving, one fixed. This standard way of thinking limits the suspensions tenability and can sometimes result in a harsh ride at certain points in the travel.  Allowing the shock to “float” between two moving linkages gives the shock an increased ability to respond to bumps across a wide variety of terrain. It will  feel like you have more travel, but you don’t...it's smarter travel.

3x10

With a 10-speed cassette and a 3-ring crankset, 3x10 delivers a closer-ratio drivetrain, a wider range of gears, and increased efficiency and durability. You will also find the ratio of change between each gear very consistent all the way across the cassette. Something you will appreciate when pushing hard up steep climbs.

Trek mountain bikes offer the best riding bikes at every level

I have been unsuccessful to date on finding a suitable water bottle and fitting for this bike. My daughter only goes on relatively short rides and does not particularly want to travel with a backpack. Can you help or advise on how to attach a waterbottle to this bike?

Hi there, In regards to using a waterbottle on the Trek Lush - is the issue with the bottle size or the installation method with the bottle cage? The reason I ask is that we recommend using a "side-entry" bottle cage on smaller frames that have limited room inside the main triangle. If a bottle can physically fit though you're struggling with getting the bottle in and out whilst riding, a side-entry cage will be the best bet. Otherwise, if the problem is that a standard bottle will not fit at all, you can get smaller 500/600ml bottles from most sports and/or bike shops. They are the same diameter as a 750ml but are shorter so tend to fit more easily in small frames. Hope that helps. Regards, Wil My Mountain
