Truvativ X9 10-Speed Crankset Scared off by Carbon crank arms? The Alloy X9 cranks are a superb option for those wanting all of the XX 10 speed shifting technology without the huge price tag or the doubt that can come with carbon fiber parts. Sure they're not quite as light or as blingy as the X0 cranks, but at 898 grams they're not shabby at all and they still come equipped with the fastest shifting chainrings on the market. With most riders spending the majority of their riding time in the middle ring, going to a larger ratio in a double crankset may leave you wanting a bit more in the low range for when you're tackling steep and technical climbs, and this is where the triple X9 crank makes complete and total sense. When it comes to combining value for money, weight and stiffness; the X9 Cranks hit the nail squarely on the head. Designed for every-day trail riders, SRAM X9 is an excellent value component line that gets you all the XX features trickled down to a much more accessible pricepoint. Utilising a Hollow Forged Alloy construction, the lightweight crank arms on the X9's are surprisingly stiff and will lay the power down amongst the best of them. While it may not have garnered all of the attention like SRAM's 2x10 drivetrains have, the triple version of the X9 crankset has quietly slotted itself in as one of the most versatile options in the SRAM lineup. It's alloy construction will take a flogging on rock strikes and in shuttle trailers, and the wide range of its 3 chainrings will appeal to riders who encounter all kinds of terrain and want to ensure that they stay on their saddle as much as possible with minimal walking. The 3.3 crankset still gets the X-Glide shifting technology that uses cleverly located ramps, double pins and guide plates as well as a very specific chainring ratios (22-33-44t) to achieve lightning-fast shifts up front. You have the choice between a BB30 model or the standard GXP version that will fit either regular threaded bottom brackets or PressFit shells. Both versions come with the Truvativ BB system that employs Gutter Seal technology to keep more crud out, and more grease in resulting in smooth-spinning performance that lasts.
