The latest 10 speed XTR groupset has brought with it many new technologies and refinements, one of which is the newly sculpted M980 front derailleur. While there are perhaps far more exciting components in the XTR M980 lineup, it goes without saying that the front derailleur plays one of the most important roles on a mountain bike and can make the difference between an awesome ride, and a crappy day riddled with problems. Sure there are cheaper options available, but if you would prefer to avoid having to look down at your chainrings to see what exactly is going on and instead concentrate on the trail ahead of you, the XTR DynaSys derailleurs keep everything where it should be and do so in silence. 

With a heavily modified shift cage that sits around a Shimano HG-X 10 speed chain, you'll get smoother and quieter performance from the latest front derailleur. Shaped specifically for the new 3-ring cranksets, the compact cage is used to provide more frame & tyre clearance and reduces the available space for the chain to bounce around when you're flying downhill, resulting in fewer dropped chains. As a key part of the DynaSys shifting system, the XTR front derailleur works optimally with the XTR triple crankset with its 42-32-24t ratio. You can pair up the derailleur to a Shimano or SRAM left hand shifter, and it will shift on other brands chainrings and chains too.
