Thankfully, Shimano have listened and are now producing this neat little kit that includes all you need to bleed and flush your Deore, SLX, Deore XT or XTR disc brakes. Inside the case you get 2 bottles of Mineral Oil, a Syringe and hose, the yellow oil reservoir, a bleed block and all the necessary instructions to carry out brake bleeds with minimal fuss. Designed specifically for use with Shimano disc brakes including most modern Deore, SLX, XT and XTR models, the Shimano Bleed Kit includes all you need to shorten your brake lines and bleed both brakes. Over time, either water or air will work its way past the seals in your brakes levers and callipers, leading to a spongy feel at the lever, brake fade on longer descents and an inconsistent level of power. Depending on your riding conditions, it is recommended to routinely flush out old brake fluid and bleed any air out of the system to ensure safe and reliable braking, while also lengthening the life of your disc brakes. Some riders may need to do this every 6 months, some may only need to do it once a year, but if you notice any change in performance or consistency in braking, you'll know that your brakes are overdue for some TLC.
