Shimano Disc Brake Mineral Oil
Mineral oil is the replacement fluid required for Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. Whereas Avid brakes utilise DOT fluid, Shimano brakes use Mineral Oil and the two are not compatible. If it's time to flush out the old oil in your brakes or you need to bleed the system to rid it of pesky air bubbles, this is the replacement fluid you will require to do so.
Mineral Oil has some advantages over DOT fluid in that it is less harsh on the environment and will biodegrade. Where DOT fluid is hygroscopic and will absorb water, Mineral Oil is not and so will stay cleaner for longer resulting in less issues with brake fluid contamination.
