Providing an array of new widths and styles for 2012, the latest Truvativ mountain bike handlebar range has strengthened an already impressive lineup. Coming in at 710mm wide and with a 25mm rise, the AKA Riserbar will appeal to trail and All Mountain riders wanting a comfortable position on their bike, with plenty of width for leverage on the climbs and stability on the descents. The width on the AKA follows the trend of modern mountain bikers choosing shorter stems and wider bars and while only marginally bigger than the XC Stylo bars, is also built with thicker walled alloy for improved strength and stiffness. Another difference from the XC range is the change of the backsweep to 7 degrees from the usual 9. This flatter profile works better with the shorter stem length of around 50-70mm that will likely be used with the bigger AKA handlebar, providing a comfortable position and responsive handling. Compared to skinnier bars, the 710mm width used on the AKA widens your stance on the front of the bike and allows you to really lean the bike over in the corners for faster and more aggressive cornering, while also providing more control when landing off jumps.
