2012 Camelbak Magic 2.0L Womens Hydration Pack
While similar in spec to the Aurora pack, the Camelback Magic features a more comfortable back panel, adjustable waist strap and a more supportive structure for carrying additional gear, making it a better choice for all-day trips where you need just a little more. The first brand to pioneer hands-free hydration, the Camelbak bladder revolutionized mountain biking, allowing riders to take the tubes, pumps, tools and water bottle off their bikes and stow it in a comfortable and durable backpack. With class-leading hydration technologies and field-tested pack designs, there is no other brand with a reputation anywhere near Cammelbak, and with a range of different styles and sizes available, there is a hydration solution for every rider out there.
Camelbak make a lot of packs, there is no doubting that. The awesome thing about their expansive range is that there is a perfect pack available for every rider looking for a high quality hydration system. The process of selecting a pack is actually pretty simple; think about how long you're usually riding for to work out what size hydration bladder you think you'll need (2 or 3 litres), decide how much storage space you require to fit in the necessary gear plus any additional items for those longer rides, and then choose the ideal shape and harness for your back and riding style.
On paper, the pack size and hydration volume is virtually the same between the Aurora and Magic backpacks, but there are some key differences that make each pack suitable for different type of riders. Overall, the Magic is a sturdier pack that is more capable of carrying additional weight on your back for longer periods of time. This is largely thanks to the Air Director back panel used on the packs harness system to increase stability of the pack when carrying heavier loads, while still maintaining excellent ventilation qualities. The Magic also gets 2 x separate zippered compartments but the external Overfill pocket is capable of carrying more gear when required, with 2 x compression straps tying everything down to keep the packs mass from moving around while riding. Like the rest of the Camelbak womens specific range, the Magic uses an S-shaped shoulder harness to fit the female form more naturally and the adjustment straps are situated down near the hips as oppose to the armpits to avoid any potential rubbing or friction for riders that wear sleeveless tops. With this in mind, Camelbak have also used a softer Velvetex material on the underside of the shoulder straps to boost comfort when resting directly on the riders skin. Because the Magic is capable of carrying additional gear that is necessary for all-day riding, it comes with an adjustable waist belt in addition to the sternum buckle for securing the pack closely to your back so there is minimal "pack roll" when bouncing around rough terrain.
Camelbak Antidote Bladder
A key reason why Camelbak packs stand out from the rest, the latest hydration bladder is incredibly durable for it's weight, uses a taste-free lining and is even leak proof too. In fact, Cammelback have so much confidence in their Antidote reservoir that they give them a lifetime warranty. The lining of the bladder is treated with HydroGuard™ in order to inhibit the growth of bacteria, keeping the water you drink safe and taste-free. With a huge opening on the Antidote reservoir, it is easy to get inside to clean out the reservoir, which is made even easier with the Camelbak cleaning kit. And when you're done filling up the bladder, the 1/4 turn Quick-snap cap makes everything safe, secure and leak proof. Compared to previous models that required many more turns to close off the filler cap, the latest Antidote model is almost impossible to over-tighten and is much more user-friendly. The quality doesn't stop there though, as the Camelbak Big Bite Valve provides easy hands-free drinking, with a small shut off valve for drip-free riding. One of the big improvements with the latest reservoir is it's quick release detachable drinking tube that can be removed from the bladder with a simple lever, allowing for separate cleaning as necessary.
