Truvativ BB GXP Team Cups Replacement bottom bracket for your Truvativ 2-piece crankset; such as the Stylo, Noir, SRAM XX, X0 or X9 cranks. Re-designed for 2012 with new bearings and Gutter Seal technology, the Truvativ GXP Team bottom bracket is more durable and smoother than ever. While there isn't a lot to get excited about bottom brackets, a smooth rolling drivetrain is worth so much out on the trail when all you want is dependable performance. A rough BB or a wiggling crank arm is a sign that not only are you working a lot harder than you need to, but if you don't get it sorted out ASAP, worse things could happen. Get onto your creaky BB with a fresh set of GXP Team cups and say hello to quiet & smooth spinning! The Truvativ external BB system utilises 2 x CNC machined alloy cups that thread into your frames BB shell, which each house a massive oversized sealed cartridge bearing. Compared to older "internal" bottom brackets that place the axle and bearings inside the BB shell, the larger bearings are capable of taking higher loads whilst also providing improved sealing against the elements. Original BB's from Truvativ have been reasonable, but early bearing death was not uncommon amongst all-weather riders. Recognising that improvements could be made, Truvativ have introduced their newly redesigned GXP Team BB that can be distinguished by its rounded cups and darker grey finish. Aside from better bearings, the seals have been drastically improved with the aid of the new "Gutter Seal" design, that provides tighter tolerances around the crank axle to seal the bearings more tightly. Compared to Shimano bottom brackets, the GXP system is designed to work differently than most other external-cup bottom brackets. The right side bearings are designed to float a bit, while the left side is held in place by a step-down on the crank axle. The design not only eliminates the necessity to side-load the bearings during installation, but should roll smoother and last longer. Truvativ even tested this BB with a rough, un-faced bottom bracket, and found that even major imperfections wouldn’t stop the BB from rolling smoothly. And now with the Gutter Seal technology that better wraps the seal between the crank arm and the bearing, the GXP BB will last longer too. From SRAM: "Welcome our new Gutter Seal Technology! Gutter drastically improves sealing against the elements while reducing seal drag. We’ve designed a fresh new cup forging for a new high-end look. A new standard in external bearing performance!"
