Truvativ Noir T40 Carbon Riser Bars 700mm
Not just for XC whippets, the Carbon Noir range is bolstered with trail-friendly widths that highlight the shift in the setup of modern mountain bikes. Providing an array of new widths and styles for 2012, the latest Truvativ mountain bike handlebar range has strengthened an already impressive lineup. The Noir name has been around for a number of years, representing the pinnacle of  lightweight Truvativ Carbon technology with handlebars featuring both riser bars and flat bar options. The T40 slots in as the replacement of the previous World Cup model, with a higher grade of carbon fiber that keeps weight impressively low, but more importantly for hard-riding folk, it also keeps strength impressively high.

Compared to the raft of options out on the market, nothing comes close to the price at which Truvativ can offer high-end handlebars. And following on from the Truvativ Noir cranks, these bars are all about trail and cross- country excellence. Copius amounts of high-modulus carbon fiber keeps 'em stiff for maximum flex resistance, whilst maintaining the vibration-damping that comes with the carbon territory. Dialing the Noir carbon handlebars to your preferences is easy, thanks to the cut guides on the ends, and centering and angle indicators in the clamp area. Having said that, we are big fans of the 700mm width that provides a massive increase in stability on the bike as well as added control on fast and rough sections on the trail. The low 15mm rise avoids the "chopper" feel you can get with big riser bars, and the classic Truvativ 9x5 degree sweep achieves a beautifully comfortable position for your hands that minimises fatigue and maximises control. The 31.8 mm bars are reinforced under the stem for extra resistance, but always use a torque wrench and tighten to the manufacturers specifications, with any carbon parts. Also, never use grease on carbon parts, only carbon-specific torque compound.
