Truvativ Noir T30 Carbon 10s Flat Bar Providing an array of new widths and styles for 2012, the latest Truvativ mountain bike handlebar range has strengthened an already impressive lineup. The Noir name has been around for a number of years, representing the pinnacle of lightweight Truvativ Carbon technology with handlebars featuring both riser bars and flat bar options. The biggest news for the 2012 range would be the brand new T30 Carbon flat bar that now provides a massive 700mm wide option to suit modern trail bikes and 29er bikes that are pushing for wider, more stable cockpits. If you want the control and width of a modern flatbar but without any unnecessary grams, the carbon Noir is an excellent option that you can depend on. Using Hi-modulus SL Carbon Fiber construction with a unidirectional graphite-carbon top finish, the Noir bar range features clever details including graded marks for trimming down the width as well as an anti-slip surface treatment on the mount zones. It uses reinforcement in the stem clamp zone and internal reinforcements at ends for controls. It is an ideal way to drop weight over an alloy handlebar as well as providing some added "spring" to the front of the bike to help reduce hand fatigue. The 10 degree backsweep is more than what you'll find on narrow 600mm flatbars, due to the necessary hand position required with a wider bar. This allows for a comfortable position for the rider without having to go to a riser bar. For 29er bikes and riders wanting to lower their cockpit, a quality flat bar can allow you increase your weight distribution onto the front wheel for more responsive handling, without that "chopper" feel you can sometimes get with tall riser bars. If you're finding your front tyre tends to wash out and understeer on fast corners, or you get that wandering sensation on the climbs, a lower handlebar position can help improve these areas. The 700mm width may seem huge, but it provides a massive increase in stability on the bike as well as added control on fast and rough sections on the trail. And if you find the width to be too much out on the trail, the marked ends of the handlebar allow for easy trimming for you to customise the bar to your preference.
