Fox 32 Float 120 Remote FIT Fork
The Fox Float series has established itself in the XC world as one of the stiffest, plushest and most reliable forks on the racing circuit today. Fox Forks and Fox Shocks have always had a stellar reputation for building some of the best suspension technology, and for 2012 the products just get better. The Fox 32 Float 120 FIT Remote fork continues for 2012, with it's cleverly designed remote lockout lever that mounts beside the handlebar grip. Other upgrades you will notice over the standard RL model include the gold Kashima Coat stanchions and the new fork seals from SKF, that serve to reduce friction and give the fork a buttery plush feel. The FIT damper cartidge is also lighter than what is used in the RL model, with a more consistent feel over rougher terrain. With the Fox Float 100 Remote, go from plush suspension to solid lockout in the blink of an eye and back again just as fast!
From Fox:
"LIGHTER. SMARTER. FASTER. From the XC World Championship to the All-mountain World Championship, the Single Speed World Championship to a sunny, Sunday afternoon trail ride, the world's best riders rely on our ultra-lightweight 32 Float Series. For 2012, we improved air spring curves throughout the Float Series lineup, allowing more usable travel with lower compression ratios".
Kashima Coat
The Kashima Coat is not only more durable than the stanchion coating used on competitors forks and previous Fox forks, it also reduces friction. Fox test riders reported better overall traction in the front end and better small bump compliance which is all good news for those who appreciate good suspension. You will notice the Fox Forks that have the Kashima Coated stanchions by the distinctive Gold finish on the upper legs, that not only serves to be super shiny and slippery, but also adds a heavy dose of bling to your steed!
RL FIT Damper
Compared to the standard RL model, the Float 120 Remote model comes with the brand new FIT damper. The FIT cartridge that debuted on the 2010 model is continued on the 2012 Fox Fork range and serves to reduce the aeration of the oil inside the fork, meaning your suspension is more consistent over rougher terrain from the top of the mountain, all the way to the bottom. It is lighter than the open bath models and requires less servicing too.
Remote Lockout
The lockout feature on the Float 120 Remote is quite different to the standard RL and RLC models. Instead of having your lockout lever mounted on the top crown of the fork, a lever that mounts onto your handlebar just next to your grips actuates a small cable that turns the lockout on and off. Designed in conjunction with Shimano, the Fox Remote Lockout is a piece of machining art, that takes quality and ergonomics to another level over their competitors. Push the lever down with your thumb to lock the fork out for extended climbs or sprints, and nudge the release lever with your index finger to release the lockout for smooth, plush suspension on the rough stuff.
Rebound
Rebound adjustment is all about controlling how slow or fast your fork returns to full travel after hitting an obstacle. Dial the red knob clockwise and the fork slows down, dial the knob anti-clockwise and the fork speeds up in return. Our hot tip at My Mountain is to run the rebound on the slower side than what you might be used to, in order to allow your front tyre to stick to the trail and maintain better traction.
