Featuring an open design to allow the pedal to work through all conditions, even when clogged up with mud, the 520 also uses a sealed bearing to prevent dirt from getting into the bearings and causing premature bearing failure. Like other Shimano pedals, you can pull apart the bearings for easy maintenance when you need to clean them and add some fresh grease.
